What personal data we collect and why we collect it
If a user accesses a website hosted by publicept, web server logs will be generated and saved for statistical purposes (e.g. to find out how often a particular page is accessed). In addition, the logs are also used for error tracking. No further analysis will be made with the usage data.
Basically, publicept does not pass any data to third parties, except for legal requirements.
Data transmission and contact forms
Basically, all websites created and hosted by publicept are encrypted, wherefore the data transmitted cannot be reviewed by any third party. Excluded is, however, the transmission of emails (e.g. by using an email form) which are basically always transported unencrypted, and therefore can be reviewed by third parties. Hence, the responsibility for the submission of the information rests with the sender.
To make websites, hosted by publicept, work properly, small data files called cookies are stored on the users device, which is a usual procedure used by modern websites.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on the visitors’ computer, tablet or smartphone. It allows the website to “remember” certain settings of a user (e.g. login, language, font size and other preferences) over a certain period of time, so they have not to be re-entered if the website is visited again.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
If you use this website, hosted by publicept, then you agree to the use and storage of cookies on your device.
You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work.
For more information please refer to https://www.aboutcookies.org/.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

The assessed information about a visitors’ use of the website is usually stored on a Google server in the USA. The IP anonymization is activated on any website hosted by publicept. Therefore, any IP address is truncated by Google, whereby an inference to an individual person is impossible. The IP address which is submitted by Google Analytics is not merged with other data gathered by Google. Google uses this information to generate statistics about the use of the website, to provide the website operator (publicept) further services related to use of the website. The data is stored for 14 months, after which the data is deleted automatically by Google.

For this purpose, the users IP address and, if applicable, also other information are transmitted to Google.
Publicept uses “Google Fonts” from Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”) to visually enhance a website. Google Fonts is a service which provides a multitude of Fonts which can be implemented into a website. By loading the page only, the “Share Button” is displayed passively and does not transmit any data to any external service provider.
Embedded Videos (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo)
The software provided by publicept provides the possibility to embed third-party videos (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo) to improve the user friendliness of a website.
